Carolus Pelicanus (1642–1702): Ad festa venite, Adoro Te devote

Carolus Pelicanus (1642–1702) received a musical education in Prague; where he also joined the Society of Jesus. He worked in many different Jesuit colleges of the Czech Province; his musical output was however known in other monastic centres: the Cistersians (Osek), the Piarists (Kosmonosy), the Canonesses Regular (Wrocław), and Kroměříž. Pelicanus was also the composer of the music performed during the spectacle held at the Brno college, during the visit of Polish Queen Eleonore Maria Josefa of Austria (1675); the two surviving music works by Pelicanus which are the subject of this edition, confirm his rhetorical skills.
