Operae Carmelitanae 1

Operae Carmelitanae 1: Thelesphorus Wikliński, Andrea Wołoszko, ed. Marek Bebak

At the churches of the Order of the Brothers of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, were active musicians – both monks and lay people. Each Carmelite church had at least one organist, and some also kept ensembles of singers and instrumentalists. Music for Carmelite ensembles was most likely also composed by the friars themselves. Works by some Polish Carmelite composers have been preserved to our day. In the present volume, we present two works: Lauda Jerusalem by Telesfor Wikliński and Surge propera by Andrzej Wołoszko.
