Danuta Popinigis

Danuta Popinigis, studied musicology at the University of Warsaw, graduated in 1981. Teaches musicology at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk and is in charge of the RISM Working Group Gdańsk. Academic specialisation: Gdańsk music culture in the16th-19th centuries. Publications include scores of articles as well as books, including  Muzyka Andrzeja Hakenbergera (Gdańsk, 1997) and Carillony i muzyka carillonowa dawnego Gdańska (Gdańsk, 2014). Co-author of the thematic catalogues series Music Collections from Gdańsk (vols. 1, 2, 3, Gdańsk/Kraków, 2007, 2008, 2011), and editor of the Polish Carillon Society journal the Carillon Review (2008–2013). Also co-editor of critical source editions of Thesaurus Musicae Gedanensis. In 2015 Danuta Popinigis received the prestigious City of Gdańsk Jan Heweliusz Award for Scholarship.
