Barbara Przybyszewska-Jarmińska is head of the Department of Musicology in the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, and chief editor of the series Monumenta Musicae in Polonia. Her main area of research is focused on the history of music of the late Renaissance and Baroque periods in the Commonwealth of Poland and Lithuania in relations to the neighboring countries and Italy. She is also interested in the theory and practice of critical editing of early music.
She published among others following books: The History of Music in Poland, vol. III/1: The Baroque, part I: 1595–1696, Warsaw 2002 and Marcin Mielczewski and Music under the Patronage of Polish Vasas, Frankfurt am Main 2014. She prepared catalogues of works of Kaspar Förster the Younger (1987) and Marcin Mielczewski (2013) and edited numerous works by composers linked to the courts of the Polish Vasas (especially music by Kaspar Förster the Younger, Marcin Mielczewski and Asprilio Pacelli).
