Aleksandra Patalas

Aleksandra Patalas studied musicology at the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań, and then at the Jagiellonian University. There she completed her master’s studies (1990), obtained her doctorate (1999) and habilitation (2011). She deepened her knowledge of musicology during scholarships at Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, University of London (1993), at the universities in Ferrara (1995), and La Sapienza in Rome. Since 1994, she has been employed at the Department/Institute of Musicology of the Jagiellonian University in the positions of: senior technical clerk (1994), assistant (1995), assistant professor (2000), professor of the Jagiellonian University (2019). In 2012–2020, she was the director of the Institute of Musicology of the Jagiellonian University.

Scientific interests: History of musical culture of the 16th-18th centuries, in particular: Polish-Italian and Polish-German musical contacts, music in the church and monastery environment; music theory of the 16th-18th centuries; music editing.
