Ewa Hauptman-Fischer

Ewa Hauptman-Fischer works in the Music Department of the University of Warsaw Library.  She catalogues music materials for the Répertoire International des Sources Musicales (RISM; International Inventory of Musical Sources) and conducts research on Silesian music manuscripts and early printed music dating from the seventeenth to the nineteenth centuries. She graduated from the Institute of Musicology at the University of Warsaw and was awarded her PhD with distinction in 2023. She also completed postgraduate studies in Information Science. She is an active member of the Music Libraries Section of the Polish Librarians’ Association and the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML). Her research focuses on historical musical sources, with particular emphasis on monastic collections. She is the author of the monograph Kultura muzyczna cystersów w prowincji śląskiej (1651–1811) (Warsaw, 2025) and more than a dozen scholarly articles. She has presented the results of her research at both national and international conferences. She also performs early music and currently sings in the chamber choir of the Polish Royal Opera.
